Hi there,
Just getting acquainted with XP (after 98) and have run
into a few difficulties:
Firstly, I have a Sony webcam (CMR-PC2) which, when I try
to install it, I get a warning that it doesn't have the
requisite digital signature and that I need to contact
the vendor for the XP compatible driver. I have tried to
wade through the various Sony websites, to no avail and
don't know how to go about finding whatever it is that I
need to download in order that I can install the webcam
on this computer. (I should add at this stage, that I am
not wildly computer literate, so if anyone is responding
to my S.O.S., could they couch their answer in simple,
easy to understand terms for this idiot!)
Secondly, I have had loads of pop-up adds for all sorts
of websites - despite the fact that I have a firewall
(Symantec) and have set AOL so that pop-up ads are not
permitted (save from a few select sites). I am getting
about 6 or so an hour. They are a real nuisance. I am in
the throes of downloading the various Windows updates and
patches etc, and have checked with Symantec and my system
is not vulnerable to attack (so it says...), but does
anyone know how to stop them, if the stuff that I am
downloading at the moment fails?
Please would you email any response to the
email address as I can't be
certain that I would find my way back to this site for
the answers!!
Many thanks in anticipation.
