I recently have been given a PC with win xp pro
installed. I have zip disks with .qic backup files on
them. I cannot access these files because, it appears
that the win backup program is not installed. Is there
some where I can download the xp version from?

Cannot Restore Backups That You Create in Windows 95, Windows 98, or =
Windows Me with the Windows XP Ntbackup Tool
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=3Dkb;en-us;305381
You may have success restoring Win 9X backups (.qic)
with Stomp BackupMYPC (formerly Veritas Backup Exec),
There's a 30 day free trial, so try it out!

It does work. I used it to read .qic backups made with Win 98SE.
