2600 and the VM downloads listed on the site are all 5.0
can I use any of these?

The 5.0 build is the build of VM. You can install it on Windows XP just
fine.

Hi James,
To verify your version, go to Start/Run and type in: wjview
MS JVM Version 3809
http://tinyurl.com/fwvu
MS JVM Version 3810
http://tinyurl.com/fwty
Once 3809 is installed you can get the Update 3810 - 816093 or use the link
above: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=816093
If this is not the issue:
Go to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 msjava.dll
