Changing "administrator" name to my actual name.

When XP Pro was installed on my PC, I was not given the
option of listing my name as the PC owner, so now the
name "administartor" appears as, well, the
administrator. Is there a way to change
the "administrator" moniker to my actual name? If so
what effect will it have on my documents folder and other
files that think "administrator" is the PC owners name?
I hope my message is not to confusing.

You dont really want to be using the administrator account. Create a new
account to use for everyday use. Control Panel>>Users>>Create New.

Even though I am the only user of this computer? I have
also loaded all of my programs using the "Administrator"
name. My XP Home allowed me to set up my system using my
actual name as the "admin" account. Why wasn't I given
that option with XP Pro? By the way, my XP Pro came pre-
installed on my PC.

You definitely do not want to change the name of the System Administrator,
if this is the account you are using. This account is your only safety net
if problems should occur. You can create another account and copy the
settings and programs from this account to the new account.

MVP Kelly has a good step by step description for copyimg the contents of a
user profile. Go to the following website and scroll down to the "Copy a
user profile" section.

Scott,

Let's say that you use the Administrator account for day to day tasks. One
day, you boot your computer, and for some reason, your profile is corrupted
to the point that the machine won't allow you to log on. Whatcha gonna do?
Create a second Administrator level account and use it for day to day
things. Leave the built in account for emergencies.

Because XP PRo is for Professionals. If you don`t know what you are
doing better stick with XP Home, in XP Home you get to create accounts
during installation. You can create new accounts at any
time using User Accounts control panel or Computer Management (right
click My Computer, select Manage).

By default XP Pro will be installed with an 'Administrator' and a
'Guest' a/c. YOU have to create new accounts afterwards!

No, you get the option to create a User account (albeit one with Admin
rights) at the end of setup. At least *MY* XP Pro SP1 did. Several times.
