So sorry, Burt for not getting back to you.
All you need to do is go to this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar
And add this String Value: Use as an example
"BackBitmapIE5"="F:\\Burts Documents\\faviconburt.bmp"

Wes,
I did download TweakUI, but I only changed to the Spinning
Globe with it... I did a registry hack to get my TOOLBAR
wallpaper in... The hack is simple when I found out the trick..
I am going to answer Kelly too.. I will put the hack on my
reply to her in this same thread.
Thanx for caring.

Kelly,
I hate to tell you this, but in XP PRO, you can't put the " "
in front or in back of the pathway.. I thot you were supposed to
but NIX, if you leave them off it works... Also... I got the wallpaper
into EXPLORER as well but the String Value for the Explorer is
"BackBitmapShell" SZ To my filename W/O any quotes..
My wallpaper choice really dresses up an otherwise blah toolbar.
You also don't need to be sorry... I know you have other things to
do.. I try to answer as many questions as I can on here, but wow,
they sure come in fast.. I kept a tally one day and it was over
1200 questions... Could this mean that XP needs a little more time
on the drawing board? <bg>. I would like to discuss this at a later
time but not on the NG's..
Sincerely,
Burt

Hi Burt,
I know. :o) You don't manually put the quotes via the registry; however,
if you export the reg file it will read "with" the quotes.

Kelly,
Would that mean that if you import it back in that you
would have to remove the " "? Just wondering.

No. To understand the process a bit better:
1. Add or modify the String Value. Clearly you are not using the quotes.
2. Then export what you just modified and open with Notepad. You will then
see the quotes that you did not put there.
3. From there you can then, delete the value you added in the registry,
then import the export.
4. You will then see the value clearly put back without the quotes that
were visible via the regfile you just imported.
Did that help? :o)
Also, that is just the way a "String Value" reads in a regfile. Dwords are
different, etc. There are differences for .vbs scripts as well.
