I have to format the hard drive becouse i could have a
virus in some main sector in the hard drive or
something. I was told to do a complete format with
getting rid of walls or something (as you can guess I am
not too technical) and i was told do a special kind of
format - not the basic.
can someone explain what to do?
cheers in advance,

Alex.

Hi Alex,

Just because you *may* have a virus is no need to format. That's like =
bulldozing your house and rebuilding just because you found a rotten =
floorboard. Besides, if the bug infected the boot sector, formatting is =
pointless. Better to directly address the problem

What virus do you suspect you have and why?

Also, in another thread you asked about backing up e-mail and such. Are =
you aware that if your bug came from an e-mail that restoring this to a =
new build will likely just reinfect the system?
