No sound

The Windows Media Player appears to have the music
keeping time but no sound is heard. There is no sound
even when adjustments to Volume is made and speakers are
intact. Also there is no sound when the computer is
initially booted up .

Greetings Karen,

Have you installed the Sound card driver - this might be the issue. You can
try doing a Windows Update and check if your driver is listed in the drivers
category.

If it isn't there try going to your sound card's website and download the
latest driver compatible with Windows Xp.
