Other than uninstalling QuickTime how do you stop it from starting up when
starting the computer. I can't find any setting within QuickTime to do this
and it isn't in any Start folder that I have been able to find so far.
I find it very annoying when non-essential programs are designed to do this.

Run msconfig. In the Startup tab find qttask and uncheck it. Next time you
start Windows, you will get a configuration warning message. When you do,
check the do not show again box.

First, open the Quicktime settings dialog. Then choose Brower Settings from
the dropdown box at the top. Then make sure "Quicktime system tray icon" is
unchecked. This will keep the icon from appearing in the task bar, but
unfortunately Quicktime still leaves an entry in the registry.
You'll find it in one of two places:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run

On my PC I've clicked that "do not show" box at least 100 times and it
comes right back up when my PC boots. Then I reclick "do not show" yet
again, close the box and then the config" window comes up..... same
thing, over and over.

Same thing happens here. I think that I will just remove the program as it
really serves no useful purpose as far as I can see.

My installation of QuickTime doesn't have a selection for Browser Settings
at all.

Try this
In QT - Edit > Preferences > Quicktime Preferences > Uncheck last box '
quicktime systems tray icon'

I don't have such an option with my installation.
Thanks
