I have a file on my computer called "search[1]." (notice the dot), when I
try to delete this file, I get an error that the file could not be found on
the drive, even though I can see if there. Is there a way to delete files
like this? Thanks!

Go to Start, Control Panel, Folder Options, View, Advanced Settings and =
make sure Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked. Then =
recheck file name!

Hide extensions for known types was not checked, this was some weird problem
with a file that had a dot, but no extension. I got rid of it by going into
the DOS prompt and doing "del search*.*" this got rid of it where nothing
else could,
