I recently purchased PC-cillin 2003 anti virus software for my PC. I downloaded the software ok and have tried numerous times to install, but failed. The software people have been unable to assist despite numerous efforts. Each time I run the installation
wizard it gets close to completion then stops abrubtly with the following message "The wizard was interupted before PC-cillin 2003 could be completely installed" The XP Firewall was not running when I downloaded the software neither was it running when I
tried to install it. To the best of my knowledge notheing else is running in the background. Can anybody advise a desperate user?

I am wondering if it is a faulty download. Will they let you download
another copy to try? Can you get your $$ back?

James thanks for the reply, I've used another download of PC-Cillin 2003 and tried PC-Cillin 2002 and my computer will not allow me to install any of them!

Is there no other error message than the one you posted originally?
Check Event Viewer for any clues: Type eventvwr.msc in the Run dialog box
on the Start menu. Look under Applications as well as System for any events
that relate to PC-Cillin around the time of your installation attempt.
If you find something, double-click the event and it will open in it's own
box with more information that can be copied and pasted in your reply.

I also found this article on Trend's Support site:

You actually have all those trojans on your PC!?
I would download the excellent *free* antivirus AVG (www.grisoft.com) and
install it immediately and update it before running it for the first time.
Also, see this article on parasites & spyware:
http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm

As for your Trend problems, it may be best to deal with them regarding your
issue. Or, maybe it will install once your system is "clean".

You're most welcome, Glyn. You may want to stick with AVG; it is highly
respected for a free AV. It has never let me down. Trend is a good company,
I hope they can compensate you in some way, or get your problem fixed.
It would also be a good idea to install a firewall (many good free ones) to
prevent further problems like trojans and install a spyware application such
as Ad-Aware (free). You can find links to both on the site I quoted
previously, http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm
