I find these little cartoon-like pop-up alerts distracting, such as the one
that tells me that I have new programs installed after I finish installing a
program (DUH!). How can I disable this feature?

Hi William,

Right click the Start Button/Properties/Customize/Advanced. Uncheck:
Highlight newly installed programs.

Hi William,

You can disable these balloon-pop ups through TweakUI. Under TweakUI,
navigate to "Taskbar and Start Menu" and uncheck 'Enable baloon tips'.

TweakUI can be downloaded at :

Does this only get rid of the 'New Program Installed' baloon, or does it
take of the others too, like the one that is continually going off and on as
my wireless connection comes and goes?
