personal name

when using e-mail or windows messenger i have tried to personalise my address by just using my first name but cannot find out how to do this. I was told to go to personal setting to change this but having done that it doesn't let my type what i want people
to see me as. Can anyone help please.

Greetings Trish,

Just open up the main Messenger window (double-click the Messenger icon in the notification
area/system tray, by the clock), click the Tools menu, then Options, at the top you'll see
your "Display Name" which you can change to whatever you wish

Thank you for your help on personal name setting Jonathan. But having done as you said when i click into the box to type my name as i want people to see me it doesn't let me. I'm using Messenger 6.1 It's just a grey box with the pre set address that you ge
t when you start using blueyonder ie aload of letters and numbers. Anything else i can do? Thanks again. Trish.
