View Full Version : Fax Problems

I suffered a system crash recently and managed to recover
my system by using the repair facility in Windows XP.
I had to re-install most of my drivers and everything
seemed OK.
When I went to send a fax today using the fax services
built in to XP, the fax monitor did not show up and there
are no listings of my faxes in the fax console. Fax
console has an error message at the bottom saying "All
Fax Printers Are Inaccessible" and when you click on this
message a box comes up with "Connection Error"

I have tried removing and re-installing fax services but
it makes no difference. The silly thing is that I can
send and receive faxes OK, but I have no record of them
in my fax console and the fax monitor does not appear
when I am sending or recieving a fax. Also the fax
printer in my Printers and Faxes is greyed out.

The only other thing that I have changed since my system
crash is that I have upgraded my office suite to Office
2003.

Anyone got any suggestions please.

A number of standard update and repair procedures disabled the Fax Monitor
in the initial release of Windows XP. These problems were fixed in Service
Pack 1. Make sure you apply SP1 if you notice this problem.

I have only had this problem recently. All my updates are
up to date and it has worked fine until I did the repair
to XP. I have also re-installed all of the updates.
