I have added fax from the XP Windows disk to my laptop
which connects to the Internet via wireless connection on
my desktop computer.
When I try to use the fax it says I need to install a
modem or a remote fax printer but it doesn't say how.
Any ideas?

XP does not support fax sharing... for that you need the Windows 2003 Server
operating system.

To send/receive faxes on an XP box, you'd need to install
a local fax modem or add to a remote shared fax printer.
Fax printer can only be shared on server operating systems
like Windows Server 2003, SBS 2000, SBS 2003 etc. Once the
fax printer is shared on the box, it should be added from
the client boxes in a way similar to adding a network
printer using the standard 'Add Printer' wizard.
