Is it possible to have xp or it's internal computer fax
program distinguish between in-coming phone or fax
transmissions ???
I have one phone line and would like to use it to also
receive fax transmissions automatically.
I have set the fax program to receive after 3 rings and
the ansewering machine to answer after 5 rings.
The fax picks up the incoming callphone call after 3
rings and shuts down.The call never reaches the answering
machine.
Is there any way to overcome this conflict ???
I understand that a self contained fax machine has the
capability to distinguish between both transmissions and
I would like that ability via my computer.

No. Windows XP doesn't support Distinctive Ring. You'll have to ask your
telco if they offer such a service.

Windows XP does not support Distinctive Ring:
