I tried to open one of my files but couldn't. When I
looked at the properties file there was no data recovery
agent listed.... so I can't open the file!!!
Any ideas? I need to access the files as they are
important school documents. Please help if you can.
Thanks.

- what type of file (.ext)?
- in what way did it not "open"?
- what program was supposed to "open" it?
- can you copy it elsewhere in Windows Explorer?

What is "data recovery agent"?

As important documents, you've no doubt backed them up, right?
After all, that's the standard reply to "NTFS ate my data" posts;
restore from backup :-)
More info, please. The first thing I'd want to do is distinguish
between file association issues that cause a file not to "open"
(nearly inevitable, if it has the wrong file name extension) and file
system or physical disk issues that prevent any access to the file.
Hence "can you copy it elsewhere in Windows Explorer?"
