I am the only user of the PC in my Home. How can I avoid
the request for entering a Password every time I boot
up? I use Windows XP Professional & at one time I had it
booting directly to the desktop with no delay. How can I
do this once again?
Thanks.

Hi there Joe,
Follow these steps to enable auto logon and get rid of the password prompt:
To make the Welcome screen available:
1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click
User Accounts.
2. Click "Change the way users log on or off".
3. Click to select the "Use the Welcome screen for fast
and easy logon" check box.
4. Click OK.
To turn off Guest account access:
1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click
User Accounts.
2. Click the Guest account.
3. Click "Turn off Guest access".
To remove the password from the user account:
1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click
User Accounts.
2. Click the user account.
3. Click "Remove my password".
4. Type the password in the "Type your current password"
box, and then click Remove Password.
Above steps will also enable auto logon, and you will be
no longer prompted to choose user and enter password.

Start, Run and enter CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2 Uncheck the box Users must =
enter a username and password.......... Click Apply. In the next =
dialog, enter the user name that you want logged on automatically, and =
the password for that account, if any.
