New Dell with XP Pro

I am about to take receipt of a brand spankin new Dell. Before I power this thing up for the first time, are their any suggestions about what to do first, how to do it etc. I don't even know enough to know what kind of questions to ask. I am taling about t
he initial start up. Anything special as to how to enter my name/set up a network etc? I have a home network running now, this will be an additon. It will be a wired system that will be added to a system that has a wired PC and a wireless PC.

Any help or kind suggestions greatly appreciated.
