I have just upgraded to WinXP-Home from Windows 98. Per
the instructions, I backed up all data in Win98 prior to
upgrading. Now that I've upgraded, it seems that the
WinXP-Home backup program is unable to read the Win98
backup program format (.qic files).

Is there some way to translate between the file format
from the Win98 backup program to one that is readable by
the WinXP-Home backup program?

Cannot Restore Backups That You Create in Windows 95, Windows 98,=20
or Windows Me with the Windows XP Ntbackup Tool
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=3Dkb;en-us;305381

Work Around:

You may have success restoring Win 9X backups (.qic files)
with Stomp BackupMYPC (formerly Veritas Backup Exec),

There's a 30 day free trial, so try it out!
