....Trying to inxtall service pack 1, with its launch ie
explorer 6 installation program because sp1 has desired
improvements\ but get the message that I can't install it
because a newer version of explorer already exists (as
well as sp2 installed previously in drive c), however I
need to know how to disable this function so my present
browser can incorporate features that are not offered in
my present version of the browser. Is there a known way
to do this?? I have also tried to download the java
virtual machine from sun systems and have revceived a
similar error message during attempted install. Which
site has the most unimpeded or dependable download(for
the java virtual machine, i NEED TO ENABLE JAVA)? can I
purchase the java virtual machine in cd form?? How do i
disable the intercept program installation function???
Must I completely uninstall all programs concerned
first??

Not clear why you want to reinstall IE, but the line 114 [not 132] in =
Kelly's site has a fix which changes the IsInstalled flag value to 0. =
This enables reinstallation of IE. =
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/ieinstall.reg

Download and double-click [as simple as that]. Now, proceed to =
reinstalling IE.

For MS Java VM: http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/msjavx86.exe
