animation of gifs has halted

Hello fellow warriors,

My gifs suddenly lost their ability to do what they are designed for, bring
animation to the page.
They work in IrfanView and other photo programs but not in MS Outlook,
Frontpage, Word or on my homepages. Hours of searching for an explanation
in help files brought nothing, so I am looking for help from one of you.
Please.
