My PC is partitioned as two drives (C and D), and I am
running Windows XP Home edition. For some reason when I
boot, CHKDSK always runs on drive D, which contains only
games. I checked the boot.ini file and there is nothing
there that I can see would cause the CHKDSK to run. I also
checked the registry
...Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyCom puter\clea
npath and it looks okay. Does anyone have a suggestion a
to what might be causing the CHKDSK to run? TIA.

Go to Start > Run and type: CMD , and hit enter. Then type in:
chkntfs /x d: , and hit enter. Reboot your computer.

[This disables CHKDSK from running on drive D:]=20

I'm not sure what is causing it, but if you convert the drive to NTFS (a
journaling file system) you should find this stops happening. In addition,
you'll have a much more secure file system in place.
