In the past, I have searched this forum for keywords. I
remember it working once. Now, I cannot figure out how to
do this. The area above the column of subject lines would
change. Instead of Expand All, it would say Search.
Clicking that link brought up a form to enter keywords. It
was very efficient. Anyone know about this?

Actually, there is a built-in search function exclusively
for this forum. You recommemded MSN Search, which searches
the Web. I use Google to search the Web. The Web is
actually not what I want to search, in this case.

Where could I ask about how to search this forum, which is
searchable, as are many other forums. Do these forums have
any general how-to-use help page or any "authority
figure," so to speak?

Thanks

You are using the web based reader, I presumed that you were using =
Outlook Express. To subsrcibe to NGs follow this link =
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/newsgroups/default.asp it =
is much easier to use. HTH

First, replace your web interface as your newsgroup newsreader with Outlook
Express. Then just use the OE Find command. So much easier.

I see that you are still using the web interface, though. Planning on
switching later?

Um, as soon as I can figure out all the buttons. Also, I
put in my real email, and now realize that it has to
get "bogusized."
And by the way, I cannot tell the difference between the
two kinds of posts. How can I tell?

OK, I finally figured it out - mostly. Thanks for your help, as I would not
have known about modifying the icons for sending (at least not for a year or
so!) I removed some and moved others. What power!

I am really curious as to how you can tell Web interface users from OE
users. All the posts seem to have the same format, etc. Do you have psychic
powers?

When in newsreader, click once on message and press Ctrl+F3
If you find this: "X-Newsreader: Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000" , that's
the web interface.....

You can tell from the headers, right click a message go to properties and
click the details tab it will show you there. If they are using the web it
will state Newsreader: Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000. You have used OE6 for
your message.

Hi Joan

Also the CDO postings do not have Re: in front of the Subject.

Hi Will
The postings from Sarah did and she was using the CDO <g>

Hi Joan

Also the CDO postings do not have Re: in front of the Subject.

I think Will was referring to the view you get using CDO, not the OE view.
On that forum view, the RE: comes and goes, depending on the poster.

Thanks Adrian I only use OE so don't know what the CDO looks like, just know
from the headers when someone is using it or OE6.<g>

Hi

I was referring to the OE view. Access to the CDO Interface is possible =
via Help and Support - subsequent postings could therefore have 'Re:' =
attached to the replies. No replies initiated via the CDO Interface =
have 'Re:' in front on the Subject.
