However, your links get rejected, somehow.
This is the message that appears on the browser:

-Also got a "website unavailable" once.

Futher, the URL has been transformed in the address bar to:
http://communities.microsoft.com/Newsgroups/invalid.asp?
ICP=MSCOM&sLCID=US

Does this have to do with AOL? The problem seems to be
more on my end, since several inks have failed. Anyone?

Just goto news:microsoft.public.windowsxp.hardware. that link is just to
the web reader. use Outlook express or another news server to view the
newsgroup.
