I recorded a screen capture movie using the windows media encoder 9
and when I tried to play it Media player tried to download the proper codec
to play the file.... however something went wrong and whenever I try to play
it it looks for the codec again... and then a message
"The MSS2 codec is required to play this file. To determine if this codec is
available to download from the Web, click Web Help."
when I press Web help button to go to the codec download center the page
says
"The required codec cannot be found
Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the required codec cannot
be found.
To determine how to obtain the codec identified as MSS2, contact the content
provider. "
I tried downloading and installing the codec pack 9 from the windows media
site but it did not work either... im stumped!

So you're too lazy to figure out what group to post to and we're supposed to
ignore that and help you quickly?

You are unable to help me? Yopu prefer to post an ironic reply instead of
helping me?
I reposted in one group, and will try later on other groups if I don't get a
reply.
What will that lead to...
1) I will have lost time since I will have to wait a few days in each group
2) There will multiple similar questions on various newsgroups, people
reading
them using a newsreader will probably click on them again thinking it is a
new post only to discover it is the same one they read on another group a
week before
3) people who will be looking for an answer to that question other than me
will not find the answer connected to the question because they click on the
question but noone will have answered it on that particular newsgroup.
4) The internet is about sharing knowledge, it has happened that I was on a
newsgroup for say windows but the question was about internet explorer.
I knew the answer so I answered it with pleasure. By trying to stop people
from doing so you are against sharing knowledge.
Furthermore:
On the Microsoft site where I found the address of these newsgroups they had
some rules but they did not mention not to crosspost.
Its a feature of Microsoft outlook and I am using it.
That is why I have decided:
You are too lazy to give an answer. Instead you like to bully on users and
trying to force laws on them that have no basis.
Therefore you are a NET COP.
I have helped many people on these newsgroups, not ONCE have I tried to be a
netcop... because these newsgroups are for people with problem
some of them, like me, may not even know that crossposting is something
other people do not like. I still cannot understand why its wrong.
So, I will continue posting as I like when I choose to post, on the subject
I want. And you should learn what being helpful means.

Hmm, I guess I don't help anyone :)
A search for you turned up nothing on MSR NetScan though I did find some
posts in alt.music.michael-jackson using Google Groups.

What version of the player are you using?
I'm not aware that WMP6 supports the v2 version of the Screen codec. I
believe you'd need to use WMP7 or later to play that content, but could be
wrong. That codec is only on the codec server at this time for WMP7 and
newer users. WMP6 users can only play back MSS1 according to the codec DB.
