How do the toolbars from the taskbar work?

Where does XP keep the toolbars' name and property data? I don't think it's in the registry because a search of my custom toolbars names fails. I like to use them extensively and seem to have more frequent than average problems with them. Any tips on to
olbar reliablility? Thanks for reading!
