View Full Version : Transfer files from Win98 to WinXP

Is there any way to transfer a significant number of files and folders from
an old Windows 98 PC to my new one running Windows XP Home? The Win98 PC
does not have a CD RW or a Zip drive and I do not want to do a transfer
using floppies - many of the files alone are too large.
Thanks

You could move the old hard disk into the new machine after making it the
slave.

You could try Direct Cable Connection. All you would need is the
correct serial or parallel cable for DCC. Radio Shack has adapters
that can be used with a regular cable.

Does either PC have a network card in it? If only one has a network
card, you could buy another network card and a UTP cable and transfer
files between the pCs over the network.
Alternatively, remove the HD from the old PC, make it a slave disk,
and add it to your new PC and remove the files from it onto your new
PC's hard disk.
