View Full Version : Transfer of email files

I recently upgraded from win 98 to win XP. Before
upgrading, I saved my win 98 email address book and
messages on a cd. win XP Outlook Express can't find them
to import them. On addresses (default.wab)XP simply tells
me that an error occurred and stops. On the old messages,
it tells me there are no messages in the DC file to which
they were saved.

Am I doing something wrong or is this an XP anomaly?

See http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/tips/movewab.htm

Also -

You will probably get a faster and more expert answer if you post OE
questions to an Outlook Express news group.

Try posting in one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlooke xpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlook express for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlooke xpress for OE 6.x
microsoft.public.internet.outlookexpress.mac for OE for Macintosh

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups).

A good website for information on OE is:
