lost start up screen

My Welcome screen on xp has vanished
I have been into user accounts and checked the use
welcome screen and it doesn't work.
Could I have deleted it somehow by accident?

Was any software installed before this happened? Some programs - for
example, Laplink, VPN programs, etc - will disable the XP Welcome Screen.
Also adding the computer as a member of a domain will eliminate this
screen.
