Hi I am a novice in XP PRO.I am actually posting this
message second time as the first solution given by
someone in this newsgroup did not solve my problem.pls
help me all the biggies pls provide me with a solution.I
am having a problem with my CDRW/DVD drive.I cannot see
the CD/DVD drive icon in MY Computer folder. It has got
disappeared.actually i tried to update the drivers of my
CDRW/DVD drive from the
manufacturer's website and i installed them on my system
(samsung SM-332B)and when it asked me to restart the
system i clicked OK.when i restarted the system in
MyComputer folder i
cannot see the CD/DVD drive in the removable disk area
only thing i can see is the floppy drive, the CD/DVD
drive is missing.I am not even able to open the CD drive
when i
press the button.what should i do to get back my
CD/DVD DRIVE.i am a novice and i don't have much
knowledge with this XP PRO system.pls help me to resolve
this issue.
The first solution given by someone in this newsgroup is
to follow up the article 314060 which actually asked me
to remove the upper and lower filter keys as per the
article i removed them but still i cannot see the CD/DVD
drive and i am unable to open the drive as well. pls help
me.

You missed a reply. Just googling through the newsgroups I see
that in microsoft.public.windowsxp.basic Doug Knox from
www.dougknox.com pointed you to a fix on his site.

Go to http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_cd_dvd_fix.htm.

Looks promising.

Tony.
