video freezes with windows media player

Hi all..

I have a bunch of different players to use, but I
prefer to use Windows Media Player.. usually I have no
problems with it, but just recently almost every video
file I try to play freezes up. I either get problems with
the video going in slow motion, freezing or losing the
synch with the audio and video. I just don't know what to
do. I send my friends the same video file, which works
just fine for them. Please help.
