ACCESS DENIED

I just tried to install SIMMS Deluxe on my new PC. This
PC runs windows XP home. The installation goes fine but
when attempting to start the gam I get an error
mbox "ACCESS DENIED" with a message "please log in with
administrator privileges and try again".
I can not get this resolved the EA corp (which makes
SIMMS)claim it's a windows XP issue. The HP support
people insist it's a software problem.

The only one suffering is my kids. (and me with the hours
I've put in attempting to resolve this issue)

Can anybody help???

I don't understand. It is normal that you are required to have administrator
priviledges to install stuff. I have never used XP Home but I bet the user
account from which the game was installed had administrator priviledges.
So, log off, press Ctrl-Alt-Del twice, log on with the user-name:
administrator (hope you know the password if one is required), go to the
control panel, select User Accounts, click "Change Account", pick the
account whose priviledges you want to change, select "Change account
type", pick "Account Administrator" and click the "Change my account
type" button. Log off, and back into the user account and try installing
the game.

NO - that only works in XP Pro - in Home Edition you have to boot up in Safe
Mode to access the Administrator Account

Oh. I thought the user account would be privileged by default. A lady friend
of mine installed XP Home, ~just barely~. How come she could install Corel's
WordPerfect and some teletubbie offshoot of OE called Incredimail on her
PC without getting 'Access Denied' messages?

If you do not create any user accounts, then the only account available is
The Administrator.
It is VERY bad practice to use this account on a day-to-day basis. Maybe
your friend hasn't created any User Accounts.

BTW, in Pro, the first User Account that is created has Admin privileges by
default.
