View Full Version : MSN Messenger blocking for all network clients

One network I maintain involves about 30 XP Pro clients connecting to the
Internet via an ADSL connection. The connection is provided to the network
by another XP Pro machine set up with ICS and ICF. I wish to block MSN
messenger and all other IM products (or at least the main ones) from use on
this network. I am aware of who to disable MSN messenger through GPO but as
this is a workgroup and the machines are reinstalled at times I would rather
a solution provided by filtering traffic on the XP Pro machine provided the
Internet connectivity.

Can anyone provide me with the name of a product that can do this job on a
standard XP Pro machine but most importantly for network ICS clients and not
just for that machine. I have already tried ZoneAlarm but was only able to
block the program for the ICS machine.

Ideally I am after a simple and cheap solution if it is possible. If not,
all solutions or suggestions would be appreciated.

Many Thanks

James
