View Full Version : SEARCH only looks for DOC or TXT

Hi

"Search" skips over a lot of files. I have some non-MSWord files, for
instance, which have been renamed with the .DOC extension but haven't
individually been re-saved as MSWord DOC files as yet, and XP's SEARCH won't
read them even though I have "All Files And Folders" set.

Does anyone know of a special MS utility that I can download, or a special
way of configuring XP's Search, which will allow for finding text in any
type of text based document?

Thanks
Greg

You may be confusing Search by changing file extensions.

You could consider downloading & installing Notetab light from
http://www.notetab.com/ then use the Search / Search disk function,
which ignores file extensions.
