View Full Version : Can't send multi-page fax after installing Office XP

Running Windows XP Home Edition SP1. For outgoing faxes,
I usually scan documents on my Epson Stylus CX5400 multi-
function printer, then fax them using my computer's
internal 56k Smartlink fax/modem.

For multi-page documents I select the group in Windows
Explorer, right click, and select print. This brings up
the Photo Printing Wizard, and for printer I
select "fax", which starts the Send Fax Wizard. A fax
consisting of multiple discrete pages is sent as a group.

Here's the problem: after installing Office XP Standard,
I can't do this. Selecting the documents in Windows
Explorer, right-click, print, *immediately* prints them
on my local printer without giving the option to select a
fax printer. I removed Office XP and things are back to
normal.

Has anyone seen this? Is it a known problem? How can I
send a multi-page fax after installing Office XP? Any
general advice about better ways to do this?

This is the default behaviour of office -
If you right click on a document and select "Print" it just prints using the
default printer -which in your case is your non-fax (local) printer.
However, if you open the same document and select Print from the file menu,
you will prompted to choose between your fax printer and the local printer.
So there are two solutions to your problem -
1. Whenever you want to select multiple documents and fax them - goto
Printers and Faxes and select Fax printer as your default printer and reset
once done.
2. Open each document select the printer and print to the fax printer.
