Hi,

The daughters computer at school is running XP and it's lost its ability
to run searches from Windows Explorer.

Clicking the search button brings up a box on the left that should
contain the search assistant/companion, text boxes, or something, but
it's empty.

Any ideas how to get a search capability again?

I don't have access to the disks the school used to upgrade her from win
98 so they could more easily hook her into the LAN there.

Thanks!

Click Start, Run, then type in: regsvr32 /i browseui.dll
Press Enter
Then type in: regsvr32 /i shell32
Press Enter
If that doesn't work see:-

Why doesn't Search work?
