I posted this to wrong MS Community Newsgroup for Networks:

The host (XP) has both (usb & parallel) works work well.
However, on the client W98 can only see one. Sharing
files works fine.

Ensure the Shared Name for the printer is less than 12 characters/numbers
and has NO SPACES in it.

Great! Now I can see it on the W98 PC. But from that PC
it's now asking for a driver. Got the driver from HP but
it is only for a local connection (USB or LPT1). Also the
XP PC offers additional drivers but is also asking for the
location??

You've got me furter, thanks. What now??

Thanks, Ian

On the XP PC.... download the right (98) drivers from the HP website..... it
will be an exe file.... clicking the exe file will make it 'expand' into a
temporary folder... it may try to start installing after that, but will tell
you it's the wrong version. Sure, it's absolutely right, it's for Win98.

Just remember where it expanded itself into.

Now go back and tell XP you want to add the additional drivers for 98... and
point the installer at that temporary folder the 98 drivers put themselves
in.

You're the greatest!! It works now, yea! Thanks for
staying with me. HP & MS are a good marriage (takes work
but rewarding)...
