strange folders

I have folders on my C drive with names like 8592c4e0e2e71c6bc1dd73df2b55cb5f

What are these and is it safe to delete them? My computer is running fine.

That is a folder that was used to install a Windows SP or a Hot Fix. They
are still there because you can go to add /remove programs and uninstall a
hot fix and that is one of the hot fixes or SPs uninstall folders. I would
leave it just in case.
