My computer can only be turned off by reaching behind to
the main on/off switch in the back. I am told, by a
friend, that this could cause damage to my computer. But
when I use the front button, the computer simply re-
boots. How can I keep my computer on in the back, and
merely log off automatically? Thank you.

pick start button
pick turn off computer
pick shutdown
you do not have to turn any switch off. the computer just
shuts off. when you want to restart you press the button
on front of box. this is my method for past 10 years.

You have SOFTWARE shutdown issues. Bob didn't understand your post.
If I knew how to navigate www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp, I would tell you her
specific fix. But I cannot search the site, or something. I think it is
there, though. You should not have to use the A/C power switch!
