Picture saving, please help

When I save a pic off a website, I can't save it any file
format other than a bitmap. I also can't save animated
pics because of this. I tried typing .gif after the file
name but that didn't work. Anyone know what the problem is?

try cleaning out your temporary internet files. In Internet explorer, click
tools, internet options, delete files. Then restart Internet explorer. it
should allow you to save as .jpg now. You have to do this every so often.
