Windows messenger proxy settings

I have ticked the box: I use a proxy server.
Type: HTTP Proxy
Server: I enter the correct address & port:

The User ID: & password: boxs are greyed out.
I can't enter a User ID: or Password:

I have installed the latest updates.

Greetings Mike,

Unfortunately in order to use a login/password on a HTTP proxy in Messenger, you'll need to
use MSN Messenger as opposed to Windows Messenger:
