I recently upgraded from a Compaq Presario model 5170
running Windows 98 to a new Compaq presario model 6000
running windows XP Home, My 5170 had a power management
password that prevented it from being booted without the
password, I'm can't seem to find it or don't know how on
the 6000 and is there is any other way to prevent use of
it short of taking it with me at all times or locking it
in the closet, thanks in advance.

Hi,

Not all systems include that option in the system BIOS. You will have to
secure the system by forcing valid logons.
