User Problems

[nedjm]

Users Accoubt now shows:

1:Administrator computer administrator
2:nedjm computer administrator
3:Guest guest account is on.

I wish to have nedjm to have total access and
total access for guests. Can I get rid of the first
one (administrator)? Need help. Thanks.

log in as Administrator and change the account to Admin.

No NO NO! set up a User account with Admin priveleges.

No NO NO! The Administrator Account is there for when your User accounts
foul up, and they WILL!

Trying yo uninstall an application. No success.
Get a message that this must be done through
an administrative account. Am totally at sea.

Account 1 and 2 should work for uninstalling that program as both belong
the Adminstrator group. If the program is being really fussy, it might want
you to be logged on to the same account that was used when it was
installed. Example: Instead of nedjm, it wants you logged on as
"Administrator."

To log on with the system created Administrator account:

For XP Pro, you can log on to that account from the Welcome Screen. Press
Ctrl+Alt+Del twice. When the old Win2000 style logon box appears, type in
Administrator for user name. Type in password if you've assigned one to
this account. Otherwise, leave it blank.

For XP Home, boot to Safe Mode. Log on with Administrator as above.

I no longer get "welcome" on startup. I do
get "loading personal settings".

Go to Control Panel-user Accounts-Change the way users log on or off and
reselect "use Welcome screen".
then, when the welcome screen appears, press Ctl-Alt-Del twice to get your
Administrator log-in screen.

See Gordon's reply. Also, if startup still bypasses the Welcome screen and
you have setup automatic logon anywhere, undo it temporarily. This will
force a stop at the welcome screen.
