lost screen resolution

GOOD DAY

I have been connecting my new lap top with XP to a desktop
monitor and has been working fine up until this morning.
When I connected this morning all characters were very
large and when I when to control panel, display settings I
found Resolution setting at 640x480 and Color Quality set
at lowest 4 bit... and I am unable to change settings. Can
anyone help this XP challenged guy.... Thanks Kevin

Go to the manufacturer's web site and look around for an updated driver or reinstall
your old one. Do you have a degauss button on the front of your monitor?
