After downloading MS security update my screen saver does
not respond to the applied Screen Saver. The screen goes
black at the time set for the applied ss.

You are correct, I have waited over 3 hrs for a simple
answer to which you people chose to ignore. Why I don't
know. There's more than one way to be a JERK!!!

You're not going to get any better response by repeatedly posting. As I
said in response to your 3rd post:

Are these the built-in screen savers or something you added? Have you
tried a different screen saver? If one works but not the other, then
its probably a corrupted file. If no screen saver works, then the
problem lies elsewhere.

Let's give Tim the benefit of the doubt, and assume that he's a newbie, who
doesn't know news group netiquette, and might also think that this news
group is populated by MS tech people to answer tech problems. If that's the
case, Tim, those assumptions are incorrect. This group is populated by
laypeople, exchanging information, for solving Windows XP problems. Some of
the regular posters have more knowledge about the Windows XP operating
system than most of the pay for tech people at Microsoft who answer the
phones. As for your problem, if all screen savers don't work after a
specific Windows XP update, either go to Control Panel/Add or Remove
programs, and remove the HOTFIX that corresponds to the Update number
(hotfixes are Windows XP updates) and it that update is there, opt to remove
it. Then reboot, and see if the problem is gone. If the Hotfix for that
Update isn't listed in Add or Remove Programs, go to the Windows Update
site, click the link on the left side of the page that says: View
Installation History, and see if there's an option to Uninstall the update
that's causing the problem. Be advised that some updates cannot be
uninstalled. If you are more concerned about screensavers, than security,
IF you have a firewall like Zone Alarm installed, You could always do a
System Restore, and select a Restore Point just prior to when you installed
the Offending Update.

To ask the same question every two minute is not the way to get an answer .

There are also Microsoft testers, developers, and program managers who try
to pop in and help out whenever we get the chance. :)
