View Full Version : Document Failed To Print Error

Hi,

I have an Epson 880 which I've been using with my
computer for a long time with no problems. My husband
installed more memory a couple months ago and ever since,
we get a "Document Failed to Print" error message mainly
when we print large or higher print quality documents or
pictures. When we print one page or lower print quality
documents though, it generally prints ok with no error
message.

We've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer
driver and downloading the newest XP drivers on Epson's
website. Nothing has worked so far and it's driving us
batty.

Would buying a new USB cable do anything to fix this
problem? Any help is gratefully appreciated.

I'm not very familiar with Epson printers, but if you are correct that
your problem started "ever since" you added memory to the printer, the
first thing that comes to mind is that either the memory is bad or not
installed correctly. Especially because the extra memory is used for
"large or higher print quality documents or pictures."

So the first thing to do is to print a "configuration page" or whatever
Epson calls it to see if the printer is in fact recognizing all of the
memory you have installed.

If all checks out with the hardware configuration, try going to
"printers and faxes," right click on your printer icon, and select
properties. There should be a tab called "device settings." You will
find a place there to set the amount of memory installed in the printer.
As far as I know, this setting is mainly informational, but change it
to the correct value and see if that helps.
