View Full Version : Snap-in Failed to Initialize

MarcC
February 16th 04, 08:42 AM
I'm getting 2 new errors when I right click on My
computer and select MANAGE:

Snap-in Failed to Initialize
Name: Removable Storage Extension

and

Snap-in Failed to Initialize
Name: Disk Management Extension

I can't add them to the MMC either. When I try to add
them, they are only represented NOT by icons but by
folders. How do I get this funcionality back? What files
are either missing or have been corrupted?

There is NOTHING in the knowledgebase about this issue.

Help!

Thanks

Kelly

Can't you give me specific help for the SPECIFIC error?=20
Am I the only user to EVER have this specific error?

Please help.

If I could have, I would have done so already.

Evidently not, if you have been reading the posts all day.

You have several issues going on, for starters use this CMD command and
Good luck! regsvr32 dmdskmgr.dll

I ran from CMD regsvr32 dmdskmgr.dll
(I made sure both files were actually there and they=20
were.)

I got this error:
LoadLibrary Failed. The specific module could not be=20
found.

Now, what library is that? What is it called, where is is=20
located and how do I either re-load it or repair it?

Thanks.

The dll should be in both your System32 folder and dllcache folder. If it
is missing from your System32 folder, copy it over from dllcache.
