Running XP Pro, shutdown can be greater than a minute at
times, is there anything that can be done to speed this
up, maybe get it to under 30 seconds, or does the OS
simply need to take that long to save the settings?

Hi Richie,

At least it IS shutting down. The delay is due to some process that is slow
in terminating. Try shutting down running processes and programs prior to
shutting the system down to see if you can isolate which it is.
