I'm using XP Home Edition, Version 2002 on a new system. I
have a DVD+R disc that the tech created from the hard
drive of a damaged laptop. The software on the laptop was
MS Millenium and used "Works". My new unit has 2 disc
drawers and I have tried both but cannot get the
information to appear off the disc. Can someone tell me
how to do this, please.

Depending on the brand of your computer and the brand/model of
the DVD drive in your computer, it may simply not be compatible
with that type of disc
Or, your "2 disc drawers" may be CD, not DVD
Or, the disc may not have written properly
Does the disc read in another computer?

Thanks, John. You've given this old lady enough
information to begin the process. I just plain didn't
know where to start! I think the first call will be to
CompUSA where I purchased the new Compaq Presario, and
then visit a friend to check out the disc.
You've veen most helpful.

To add to John's information.
There are two types of recordable DVDs: DVD Dash R {DVD-R} and DVD Plus R
{DVD+R}. The formats of the two types are not compatible {like the old Beta
and VHS problem}. Some DVD drives can read both types, others can read
only one type.
If your computer can only read/write the DVD-R type, you will need have
someone copy the DVD+R to a DVD-R format.
Compaq technical support should be able to tell what type of drive you have.
