Hi. I was working on a very important document and my
younger brother came across the computer and 'x'ed out'
the box. A good seven pages were lost. I was just
wondering...is there any way I can find the last things i
have typed in some type of program or something in my
computer that keeps track of everything I write. Thanks
for any help you can give me.

Depends. Most modern wordprocessors have some sort of "autosave"
feature that periodically saves your work. Although this is intended to
be used in the event of a power failure or other system crash, it may
also work in your situation.

If you use MS Word, you can check on the Tools menu "Save" tab to see if
you have autosave active, and if so, at what intervals it saves.
Assuming that you do have it active, find out how to recover as follows:

Type "autosave" (without quotes) into Word's Help system. In my version
of Word (2000), I would then go to the topic "Prevent loss of work and
recover lost documents," then to "Recover a document that was saved
automatically," and finally (all the way at the bottom) "If a recovery
file is not opened for you, you can still open it. How to open a
recovery file."

Word 2000 and 2002 both have Autosave set to 10 minutes by default.

Perfect example of why it's a good idea to have auto save enabled.
